Midfielder of Kyiv’s “Obolon” Sergiy Sukhanov explained why he decided to take a penalty shot against “Rukh” in the match of the 3rd round of the Ukrainian championship.
— I train, I stay after training, I shoot at the goal. As they say, every footballer plays to his strengths. If you have a shot — you need to take it. Without shots, there are no goals. You see, God helps. I told the guys that I’m confident: I’ll take the ball and score. Honestly, there was some inspiration. I understood — 100% confidence that I would score. The guys say: “Well, let him be confident.”
I scored — and all questions were answered. I took responsibility at the decisive moment — and scored. The referee also asked me: “Sukh, are you going to take the shot?” I said: “Yes, no crosses, nothing will happen. It’s a striking position — I need to shoot,” — shared the Dynamo graduate.
