Oleg Shandruk: "We played with great respect for Shakhtar. That was not the way to play"

"The conceded goals are only a loss of concentration. Nothing more. It’s especially disappointing that we dedicated time to set pieces during our preparation for this match.

Also, we are still lacking quality in finishing our own attacks. Today we had a good opportunity that we did not convert. There were good moments in the previous match against Poltava. I won’t say anything new — we need to work, to find ourselves. Because right now, we are not effective in the attacking phase as we were last year. This needs improvement.

Today, we played with great respect for the opponent. You cannot play like this against Shakhtar. We need to be bolder. But again, this is psychology.

We have a cup match ahead. This game can somewhat level the situation in terms of psychology. Because three defeats, even against the likes of Dynamo and Shakhtar, is unpleasant. I believe we should have taken points. We do not have them. So yes — the upcoming cup match will be extremely significant for us.

We went through something similar last year. After the first three rounds, the team had one point, now we have none. I won’t say it’s the same situation, but it is somewhat similar. We are working towards finding balance to be as effective as possible on the football field. We are also limited in players. Consequently, we are losing time. Because during the training camp we practiced one tactical scheme, now we have to change things a bit. This takes time. But there’s no panic. We are working and preparing for the next match," Shandruk said.
