Former FIFA referee Myroslav Stupar analyzed the actions of the refereeing teams in two matches of the 3rd round of the Ukrainian championship, in which there were claims against the referees from the team representatives.
“I won’t be original when I clarify that complaints about weak refereeing usually come from teams that have suffered defeats. So, in the current round, the head coach of "Polissya" and one of the officials of FC "Poltava" did not hide their dissatisfaction. Believe me, these are all post-match emotions, over time and after reviewing the video of the controversial game episodes, passions subside.
I agree, Oleksiy Derevinsky could have handled his duties much better in the match “Polissya” — LNZ, he made mistakes, but he cannot be accused of bias. Take, for example, the moment in the 29th minute, which ended with the awarding of a penalty against the Zhytomyr team. Initially, the referee did not notice the foul, and the guests were preparing to take a corner. But after a hint from VAR referee Andrii Kovalenko, he changed his decision. Because after reviewing the video, it became clear that the home player had moved his hand away from the body, and the ball after the shot from the Cherkasy player hit the hand, and this is punishable. By converting the penalty, the guests materialized their game advantage and secured a victory.
Two penalties were awarded in the match “Kudrivka” — “Poltava” and both against the guests. In the first case, referee Artem Mykhailyuk used the hint from VAR referee Volodymyr Novokhatnyi and after reviewing the video pointed to the penalty spot, while in the second, there was no need for this, as the foul in the penalty area by the “Poltava” player was so obvious,” Stupar said.
