“After long reflections and mixed feelings, I have decided to retire from professional football.

First of all, I would like to thank God for the talent and the long career that I enjoyed. I also thank my family and friends for their unwavering love, support, and understanding to this day.

This game created me and gave me everything — incredible joy, sad days, the opportunity to travel and see the world, lifelong friendships, and many unforgettable memories.

Thank you to all the agents who tirelessly worked and negotiated with clubs to make my dreams come true — thank you. I am immensely grateful to all the sports journalists who spent long hours day and night covering my career.

To every club whose shirt I was fortunate to wear, every coach and teammate who supported and cheered for me to be better, and to every fan who supported me through both the highs and lows — thank you.

Thank you, Nigeria, for giving me the opportunity to wear the national team jersey.

Although my career as a professional player has come to an end, football will always be a part of my life, and I am opening the next chapter.

Thank you all for being part of this journey, and I look forward to meeting you on the football fields,” wrote Ideye on his Twitter.

Recall that the Nigerian forward defended Dynamo’s colors from 2011 to 2014, playing 107 matches for Kyiv (45 goals, 12 assists).
