The head coach of Manchester City, Josep Guardiola, commented on the appointment of Bernardo Silva as the team captain for this season.
"I chose him for one reason — last season, when we had big, big problems, he was always there. He was always there, training every day… incredibly exhausted. At one point, we only had 13/14 players plus academy graduates, and every three days we were losing a game — and he was always there.
He played in the left-back position, right-back, winger, defensive midfielder. No matter what position — he always thought about what was best for the team. With all his qualities, I said that he would be a good captain. And he was really, really a good captain," Guardiola quoted by Sky Sports.
