To cover 6,500 kilometers only to be fined 30,000 tenge (~1800 UAH). This adventure happened to a Celtic fan who flew to Almaty for a decisive Champions League qualifier against Kairat. This was reported by the Telegram channel "Bombardir".
It is reported that this trip is vying for the record status in the history of the tournament, as Glasgow and Almaty are separated by 5,692 km (but due to the closed airspace over Ukraine, the flight has to be longer). Almaty region is located on the border with China, followed by Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, and other Asian countries.
However, upon arriving in Kazakhstan, the guy was almost immediately stopped and fined by the local police for pulling out and starting to vape (an electronic cigarette), which is banned there at the national level. For violating this law, a fine of 30,000 tenge (~1800 UAH) is imposed.
After confiscating the vape and collecting the money, one of the police officers laughed and handed him a pack of cigarettes and a lighter.
Recall that Kairat managed to defeat Celtic in a penalty shootout, advancing to the main round of the Champions League for the first time in its history.
