The former goalkeeper of Dynamo Denis Boyko shared on the Youtube channel of Marichka Padalko how he tried to address his psychological issues.
— I was a little triggered that during our conversation you already referred to yourself as an idiot twice and once as a boring guy. What is this devaluation?
— Throughout all my years, probably, it’s a psychological problem, a psychological trauma. I’ve even consulted a psychologist about my relationships.
Many people tell me: “Den, you’re great, you’re a nice person, you’re smart, you’ve achieved a lot in life by the age of 37, you’ve reached some heights in football, you’re respected in society.”
From the outside, they say you are normal, but in your head, you think you’re not normal. These are some internal problems, probably related to that period of life I had in those relationships. I won’t say that I was devalued or offended in any way. I was not a small child, but these are probably psychological issues. When I say “idiot”—that’s sarcasm.
— I understand, but when you say it twice and a third time in such a short period— I had a question.
— You know, I currently have a feeling that I’m sitting in a psychologist’s session. When I was at a therapist’s session, he also revealed a lot of new things about me that were uncomfortable. Probably, in public, I appear confident, a guy who knows what he’s doing — and everything is cool with him.
But we are all human, and every one of us has some internal problems, worries — some more, some less. Some have already learned how to cope with it, while others are still learning.
