Journalist Serhiy Tyshenko commented on the rumors that the head coach of the Ukrainian national team may soon take over the Greek «Panathinaikos».
Serhiy Tyshenko«Serhiy Stanislavovych has always been a rational person. Going to a crisis club mid-season, with no ability to make staff changes — that doesn’t seem very correct. There are significant risks involved. Especially since in Greece there is huge pressure on coaches of the big clubs. This is not „Ferencváros“, where only „Fehérvár“ could compete financially. In Greece, „Panathinaikos“ is not the richest club, there is also „Olympiakos“, AEK, PAOK.
That Rebrov will leave the national team — for me, that is already a foregone conclusion. Right now he has a secured contract until the end of the season (the summer of 2026), which simply makes no sense to break.
Let me remind you that Rebrov has never changed teams mid-season during his coaching career. He completed a three-year contract at „Dynamo“, although the last season was frankly crisis-ridden. He also spent three years at „Fradi“, and the last season was problematic. In the Middle East, he worked for a year with „Al-Ahli“, and two seasons with „Al-Ain“.
The last time Rebrov worked at the club level in Europe was back in 2021. That was a long time ago. So I expect to see Serhiy Stanislavovych back in the Middle East again,» — wrote Tyshenko on his Telegram channel.
