Andriy Totovitsky: «Due to an injury, I was advised to end my career, but I decided to take the risk»

Kudrivka midfielder Andriy Totovitsky candidly spoke about the injury that had been troubling him for many years:

Andriy Totovitsky

«It’s hard when not everything depends on you in football. When injuries occur and you can’t influence them in any way. I can’t say that I’m not a professional; I have worked hard, but that’s life, that’s the body, that’s physiology. I didn’t have many injuries — I constantly had one and the same problem that couldn’t be resolved for a long time.

In winter, I decided that I would probably be ending my career. Because I could recover for 3 months, train for 2−3 weeks, and the problem would arise again. I consulted various doctors and rehabilitation specialists; everything was going in circles.

In February, I had surgery, although many said it would be better to end my career because I wouldn’t be able to play at 100%. We took the risk since I had no other choice. After the surgery, I recovered for two months, and the problem that had troubled me for five years was gone. It was a specific problem with the calf muscle, rare in football. It was also experienced by Zhora Sudakov and Manor Solomon. Because a nerve runs next to the damaged area of the muscle, it cannot work at full capacity,» Totovitsky is quoted by the Telegram channel UPL.TV.
