The topic of the possible departure of the head coach of the Ukrainian national team Sergiy Rebrov from his position is gaining further momentum.
As reported by Sport.ua, the management of the Greek club «Panathinaikos» has given the head coach of the national team of Ukraine, Sergiy Rebrov, who they want to see at the helm of their team, until the end of September to terminate his contract with the UAF.
According to available information, UAF president Andriy Shevchenko categorically refuses to let Rebrov go, so option B with a change in the leadership of the national team is not even being considered. Especially since after a failed start in the qualifying cycle for the 2026 World Cup, this would be an admission of mistakes made in personnel matters.
However, Sergiy Rebrov is indeed seriously focused on changing his «postal address» in coaching and intends to even gain support from the top officials of Ukraine to resolve his personal issues.
It should be added that a possible change of head coach could negatively affect the microclimate in the national team of Ukraine, which has crucial matches ahead in mid-October in the battle for a spot in the final part of the World Football Forum — against Iceland and Azerbaijan.
Sergiy Rebrov has been at the helm of the national team since 2023. His current contract with the UAF is valid until June 2026.
