In the second match of the World Championship 2025 in Chile, the youth national team of Ukraine (U-20) played a draw with Panama (1:1). After the match, forward Oleksandr Pyshchur shared his emotions with the UAF press service.
“It was a very hard match — both for me personally and for all the guys. An unpleasant opponent. We had more ball possession, but in the final phase of the attack, we lacked a bit of skill. We should have gained more from this match than 1:1, but it’s not a big deal. There’s no time to think about it — we move on. We need to prepare for the next match, and God willing, everything will turn out as we want.
When I earned the penalty, the thought flashed in my mind that I would take it myself. Then we started discussing, and still, I ended up taking it. I didn’t convert it, but the referee noticed that the goalkeeper moved too early. I had to take it again, however, Hennadiy Synchuk came up to me and said that he wanted to try. I said, let him take it because the most important thing for me is to win the match, and who scores, me or someone else, it doesn’t matter.
Synchuk will miss the next match due to an accumulation of yellow cards. He is a dynamic player whom we will miss very much. But we have what we have, we have many good performers,” said Pyshchur.
