On Thursday, October 2, in the match of the first round of the main stage of the Conference League, Kyiv’s “Dynamo” lost to English “Crystal Palace” with a score of 0:2. The match took place in Lublin at the “Arena Lublin” stadium. Here is the post-match press conference of “Dynamo” head coach Oleksandr Shovkovskyi.
— Why did it take so long to make the substitution of Mikhavko?
— Unfortunately, the player we planned to bring in was completely unprepared. That’s why everything took so long. And it played a cruel trick on us.
After conceding a goal, we changed our tactical scheme. What we planned to do later had to be done at that moment.
— Can this substitution situation be called a turning point?
— Perhaps.

— It is always nice to play in front of a packed stadium. It adds charm to the game. And more responsibility to the players. It was important for us to handle the pressure and the tension felt in the locker room before the game in the first minutes of the match. In principle, we succeeded, but what happened, happened.
I can say that we are undoubtedly upset. In such matches, individual skill matters a lot, I mentioned this before the game. Every goal scored and every goal conceded is a result of actions and counteractions. Initially, the game went in a way we hoped, but unfortunately, the first conceded goal made corrections. We were not ready to play open football against the English today.
