Norwegian national team striker Erling Haaland scored a hat-trick in yesterday’s World Cup 2025 qualifying match against Israel (5:0), but an unusual incident occurred early in the game involving him.
In the 4th minute of the match, a penalty was awarded against the Israeli team. Haaland stepped up to take it, but the Israeli national team goalkeeper managed to save the shot from the spot. However, the goalkeeper violated the rules by stepping off the line prematurely, and the referee decided on a retake of the penalty. Nevertheless, Haaland failed to score again, as the Israeli goalkeeper saved his shot once more.
Recall that a similar story recently happened with Ukrainian striker Artem Dovbyk of Italy’s 'Roma', who also failed to convert a penalty twice in the Europa League.
