Famous Ukrainian coach Oleksandr Ryabokon, who recently took charge of «Levy Bereh», assessed the chances of the Ukrainian national team qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
«I believe that the discussion that erupted in October in the media regarding the possible resignation of the Ukraine national team coach Serhiy Rebrov was more detrimental to the country’s main team.
There were objective and subjective reasons for Rebrov’s team’s unsuccessful start in qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, but that’s no reason to make drastic changes. Moreover, the Ukrainian nation has always been distinguished by unity in difficult times and balanced decision-making. Fortunately, hasty conclusions were avoided. The management of the UAF and Rebrov himself remained calm, and everything stayed in its place. In my opinion, it was precisely the excellent microclimate in the national team, where trust helped Ukrainians avoid losses in October’s paired matches, despite the absence of several leaders due to injuries.
Interestingly, talks about the necessity of dismissing Serhiy Stanislavovych immediately ceased. In my opinion, Rebrov is exactly the right choice for leading the national team because of his vast experience and his authority in the football world. Although, of course, even he cannot do without support.
I am convinced that Rebrov’s coaching talent should help his team showcase all their best qualities and earn a spot at the world forum,» said Ryabokon.
