On the night of October 22, Russian forces launched another missile-drone strike on Kyiv. The attack damaged the Olympic College named after Ivan Piddubny of the National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine.
The incident was reported by acting rector of NUFVSU, Oleksandr Pyzhov, noting that fortunately, there were no casualties. During the attack, the college students were in a shelter, and all are safe and unharmed.
As a result of the strike, the artificial football field was damaged, windows in the football and track and field arenas were destroyed, and an academic building was also damaged. University and college management immediately arrived at the scene to assess the extent of the destruction and coordinate further actions.
According to Pyzhov, a plan to restore the facilities is already being developed, which will be implemented soon: «We will rebuild the material and technical base. Education and sports for us are not just buildings; they are the foundation for future victories.»
It should be recalled that Luhansk’s 'Zorya' is based at and conducts its training at the I. Piddubny College.
