Ihor Khudobiak: «The Absence of Yarmolenko is Critical for Dynamo»

Former midfielder of Lviv’s Karpaty, Ihor Khudobiak, shared his expectations for the Dynamo vs. Samsunspor match in the Conference League.

Ihor Khudobiak

— I think it will be a very tough game for Dynamo in Turkey. Samsunspor won against Legia in the previous match (1—0) and comes into this game in a good mood. Moreover, Turkish fans are always active, which will affect the game — it will be very difficult for the Kyiv team.

Our capital club has had an extended unsuccessful series in the championship and European competitions. It’s about time for Dynamo to break it, and this is a good opportunity. I believe this is within Shovkovsky’s team’s capabilities — this could boost their morale.

The defense of the Kyiv team might also pose a problem, as it hasn’t been very reliable this season. But it’s not just the defenders' fault — the whole team needs to defend better. Yarmolenko’s absence is also critical. Andriy is a good, experienced player who could help the team. Additionally, all these rumors about the conflict between Yarmolenko and Shovkovsky... I don’t want to speculate — I really want to know what the actual situation is.

Returning to the match — there are always chances. I think that in this encounter, Dynamo can definitely take points. The team will try to play for a win, but let’s see how the game goes. Yes, Dynamo can surprise with their good play and victory. Such a result would pleasantly surprise me. Overall, I lean towards a 1:1 score, said Khudobiak.
