Former Kyiv Dynamo midfielder Serhiy Mizin stated what prevented Oleksandr Shovkovskyi’s team from competing against Turkish Samsunspor in the main round match of the Conference League.
«Clearly, there is a crisis in Dynamo — it continues. Is the team hitting rock bottom, metaphorically speaking? I am convinced that the upcoming matches will be crucial for Kyiv players: on Sunday against Kryvbas in the UPL and two against Shakhtar in the Ukrainian Cup and championship. Only after these can we say whether changes will occur on the coaching bridge and what Dynamo can expect this season.
As for yesterday’s match in Turkey, I tend to think that initially, the visitors were thrown off course by a quickly conceded goal due to a defender’s gross error, and Oleksandr Karavayev’s miss, which could have leveled the score, finished them off. But for this experienced player, it has become usual to score incredible goals and miss from positions where it seems almost impossible to fail. It’s sad.
In the second half, Dynamo players had already resigned to defeat and it seemed they were already thinking about the upcoming battles on the domestic front,» said Mizin.
