Shakhtar’s press service reacted to the behavior of Polish fans during the Conference League match, where the 'miners' faced Warsaw’s 'Legia' (1:2). Provocative banners and chants related to historical events appeared in the stands of Polish fans.
«During the Conference League match in Krakow against 'Legia', we once again felt the strong support of both Ukrainian and Polish fans. It was another match where we felt the warmth and energy of the stands — something we greatly miss, as we still cannot play at our home stadium in occupied Donetsk.
At the same time, we regret some misunderstandings that occurred around the match. We believe that no actions can and should not affect our attitude towards Krakow, Polish fans, or Poland as a whole.
FC 'Shakhtar' sincerely thanks the Polish people for their hospitality, attention, and years of support — both in sports and beyond. We are united by a true friendship and partnership between our clubs and nations. We respect our shared history and honor the memory of all who suffered in the past — both Ukrainians and Poles. Mutual remembrance makes our nations united and stronger.
We are convinced that Ukraine and Poland remain steadfast and reliable allies — in sports, in freedom, and in building our common future,» stated an announcement on the official page of Shakhtar on network X.
