The forward of Kyiv’s Dynamo Andriy Yarmolenko, after the match against Kryvbas in the 10th round of the Ukrainian championship, answered questions from Football Hub about the game and his relationship with Oleksandr Shovkovskyi.
— The third goal. You very emotionally ran to Kabayev after you scored. If I’m not mistaken, is this your first goal this season?
— Yes, the first. And of course, very important for me emotionally, because I haven’t played in the Ukrainian championship for a long time, I haven’t been in the starting lineup. So this goal is really significant for me. I ran to Kabayev because in that moment, it was mostly his merit: he did everything perfectly, passed it to me right in front of the empty goal. So I wanted to thank him immediately for the assist and celebrate together.
— Dynamo couldn’t win for a long time — after the cup game with Oleksandriya there were five draws in the championship, losses in European competitions. But today the team looked light and free. What do you associate this change with?
— Yes, we felt it. From the outside, it might seem that the guys weren’t running or fighting, but that’s not the case. For many of them, it was just psychologically difficult — some had never faced such criticism before. It’s a new experience for them. And it’s good that this «bad streak,» I hope, is already behind us. Everyone took a breath because we perfectly understand which club we play for and do not want to accustom our fans to such results.
— Recently, there have been many talks in the media about possible misunderstandings between players and the coach…
— I have no conflicts at all. Even if there were, I definitely would not bring it to the camera. I would just go to the head coach and sort everything out personally. So everything is fine, honestly. I’m very happy that the team won today, and we are in a good mood preparing for the match with Shakhtar.
