The midfielder of «Obolon» Serhiy Sukhanov recalled how he ended up at the academy of Kyiv’s «Dynamo» (at the age of 13).
— I started at «Naftovyk» in Okhtyrka, then played at an academy located in the now-aggressor country — I don’t want to talk about that period at all. Later, I ended up in the capital, lived with a coach, and played for KSDYUSHOR «Darnytsia». We competed in Kyiv’s championship, where representatives of «Dynamo» noticed me. That’s how I joined this team in 1995. There I met with Ihor Kharatin and Pasha Polegenko.
But I played for a year and a half and left «Dynamo» because I wasn’t tall enough. I wasn’t kicked out, nothing like that happened — I just didn’t play as much as I wanted to. Moreover, I saw that they prioritized taller boys there. So I decided to join another team and moved to «Knyazha», said Sukhanov.
