Barça wants to lure Arsenal’s leader

Barcelona has shown interest in Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard — this was sensationally reported in Spain.

The Catalan club’s sporting director Deco acknowledged that the club would not spend money in January but confirmed that they are looking for a new playmaker and forward.

The former Real Madrid player is among Barça’s potential targets, and media reports say the club plans to make a transfer offer for him in the summer. Ødegaard’s contract with Arsenal is valid for two more years, so the transfer fee will be significant. The Catalans will have to sell several players first to raise the necessary funds.

Ødegaard can play behind the striker and compete with Dani Olmo, Fermín López, and Pedri. He can also operate closer to the center of the field, where Pedri and de Jong’s positions currently seem unchangeable.
