Oleksandr Ishchenko: «Kravets had complete freedom at Dynamo — go and work, but I didn’t hear any ideas»

The director of the Dynamo school named after Valeriy Lobanovskyi, Oleksandr Ishchenko, shared his thoughts regarding the interview of former advisor to the president of Dynamo, Ihor Surkis, on the development of youth football by Artem Kravets.

«I was left with a bitter aftertaste from this interview. It’s very strange for me that he says such things for some money.

Let me tell you a story from before the pandemic. One mother stood not realizing I was behind her. She says, 'If I gave money, my child would play today.' I heard it and said, 'Then give it, and he’ll be in the lineup now.' She left after that. Can you even imagine that?

Every team has a parental committee. It’s not just the coaches who nurture a footballer, but also the school, the street, the parents, and us. Everyone should work in one direction. I received a lot of support calls from friends and acquaintances. What bad thing was done to him here? He had complete freedom. Go and work, but not just in words. I didn’t hear any ideas.

When I came to this position, I had to relearn for three years. And today, I learn every day because children change, and approaches to them need to change. The work of a leader is not just a job; it’s a way of life that takes up 24 hours. Because as soon as you relax, they call you to say a footballer threw a can out the window onto the street. He lost a bet and threw a can, and people were walking there. They call the police and say it was an attempt on them.

Others took and posted an erotic dance in Dynamo uniform on TikTok. Here, a teacher from school calls asking you to come because the boys are uncontrollable. I go to school — and for a month everything is fine. Older ones have different problems. Training hasn’t even ended, and there’s no one on the field. I look out the window, and girls are already standing at the gates. I bring everyone back to work on the equipment. They haven’t led girls to the base yet — there’s security and cameras here,» Ishchenko said.
