Vitaliy Ponomaryov: «We talk about some incredible football of 'Karpaty', and they come and start lying on the field from the 25

The head coach of Cherkasy’s LNZ, Vitaliy Ponomaryov, criticized the opponent’s team while commenting on his team’s loss against Lviv’s 'Karpaty' (0:1) in yesterday’s 11th round match of the Ukrainian championship.

«I understand that there is a tactic and strategy for the game, that the result is the most important in football, but if our teams will play such football and lie on the field from the 25th minute, and no one pays attention to this, then I don’t think our young footballers will learn to play football.

We talk about some incredible football of 'Karpaty', which has not been played in Ukraine yet, damn it, and they come and start lying on the field from the 25th minute.

As a coach, I’ve been in the UPL for more than 80 matches, and honestly, I’ve never seen anything like this. No opponent has ever played like this, no matter who I coached. Lying around like that... Of course, the referees should somehow influence this, make some adjustments. It’s all time delays, it all slows down games. What intensity can we talk about, what development can we discuss in such conditions?

Any tactic, any strategy has the right to exist, but it should be worthy. We say that we play for the fans. And if they are going to watch players lying on the field from the 25th minute, then I don’t think they will like it,» said Ponomaryov on the YouTube channel 'UPL TV'.
