Roman Hryhorchuk: 'Dynamo’s victory over Zrinjski is an event that should not be placed in any special rank. It was meant to be'

Famous Ukrainian coach Roman Hryhorchuk shared his impressions of Dynamo’s victory over Zrinjski (6:0) in the 3rd round match of the Conference League general stage.

Roman Hryhorchuk

— As for the game, I can say that everything happened as it should have. We understand that Dynamo Kyiv is a huge brand, a big club with a name. They outplayed a team that, in my opinion, is lower in level than Dynamo in all football indicators.

In my view, this is an event that should not be placed in any special rank, as if something incredible happened. It’s just as it should be. I liked that the team played confidently and scored wonderful goals. Overall, Dynamo looked very solid. Because of this, we hope that it will continue at least in the same way.

They are currently having quite a good period: they recently won against Kryvbas, performed successfully in the Cup, and yesterday showed good football and won. I think we can only congratulate everyone on this.

It’s hard for me to comment on Zrinjski’s level, but I rely on the fact that a weak team cannot enter the group stage. They have a certain level. Maybe they played weakly, maybe Dynamo played very strongly and simply deprived the opponent of any chances.

In my opinion, these are teams at different levels, and Dynamo is clearly on a higher one. Of course, more indicative matches will be, for instance, with Fiorentina — against such opponents, it’s easier to assess the team’s real state. But judging by the last games with Shakhtar, we can’t say that Dynamo is inferior. Dynamo and Shakhtar are our top teams.

I think yesterday’s victory should positively affect Dynamo, add confidence. Because even yesterday, I noticed something I hadn’t seen in a long time — Dynamo playing like that. Already somewhere at 3:0 or 4:0, it was clear that they were playing with joy, enjoying football, even proud of being much stronger than the opponent, said Hryhorchuk.
