“Victories over Shakhtar and Brommapojkarna gave us confidence,” — a midfielder of Dynamo youth team

Kyiv Dynamo U-19 midfielder Pavlo Liusin shared his impressions of the home match of the U-19 National League against LNZ U-19 (7:0), in which he managed to score a brace.

Pavlo Liusin

— There are no easy games. Despite the big score, it was not easy for us even against LNZ. In general, we go into every match with the desire to win, and it’s good that today we managed to achieve a positive result for ourselves.

— Last season, LNZ was among the outsiders, losing to opponents with crushing scores almost every round. This season, the Cherkasy team is already more competitive. How did you manage to score so many goals against them today?

— Yes, indeed, compared to the previous season, LNZ has noticeably improved, several players from other teams joined them. But we prepare carefully for each upcoming match, and the coaching staff doesn’t allow for an underestimation of the opponent, no matter who we are playing against.

— After the tough journey to Sweden, did you manage to recover? Were there any problems with physical condition?

— Yes, we managed to recover. Moreover, we have players born in 2006 who did not go to Sweden, so they helped us today.

— You play in the midfield, so scoring goals is not your main function on the field. But you often find yourself in a striking position, today you also scored two goals. Is this the coach’s setup or are you aiming at the goal yourself?

— Every footballer wants to score goals, even defenders often rush forward, but the main thing is not the goals but the team’s victory. If my scoring helps the team achieve a positive result, it’s twice as pleasant.

— Did the victory over Shakhtar in the previous round give the team confidence?

— Yes, definitely, the victories over Shakhtar and Brommapojkarna gave us confidence. Our task is to perform well in the UEFA Youth League and to become champions again in the U-19 National League. So we will gradually move towards our goal.
