Cherkasy LNZ midfielder Denys Kuzyk commented to 'Profootball Digital' on their victory over Dynamo in the 12th round of the Ukrainian championship.
— First victory over Dynamo. How special is it?
— Maybe a little special, but we want to beat every team. Our task is to win every match. It’s good that we won today. We probably gave 1000% of ourselves on the field, so everyone is satisfied and we go on vacation in a good mood.
— Can you play in LNZ without giving 1000%?
— No, of course not. You always have to give everything to the game to achieve such victories.
— What were the main factors that helped you win against Dynamo away?
— We were one unit. We played for each other — that’s probably the most important thing.
— During the week, you lost to Karpaty and then defeated Dynamo. Does this show how level the championship is?
— Yes, exactly. You can see what the standings are like now — everyone is close. The championship is very level and interesting.
— With Karpaty, you played as the leading team, with Dynamo — more defensively. In which style is the team more comfortable?
— It probably suits us better to play on counterattacks. Maybe in this style, we feel more confident. But we are working to be better in positional play and in realizing our moments.
— There were many counterattacks today. Was it a plan or a reaction to the opponent’s actions?
— We understood that Dynamo would control the game and knew they would make mistakes at the back. We took advantage of this — there were good prerequisites for attacks, and importantly, we managed to score and hold the result.
— How did the team react to the victory? What was the reaction of the president and coach?
— After the match with Karpaty, the president said it was nothing to worry about — we played well and we needed to beat Dynamo. And today, after the game, he came in and said, 'You see, I was right.' Everyone is happy, the emotions are incredible.
— Comparing the game against Shakhtar (4:1) and today’s (1:0), are these similar matches?
— Yes, similar. Shakhtar then also controlled the game, and we went for counterattacks. It’s just that we managed to score more then. Today we also had moments, but we didn’t realize everything.
— You are high in the standings. Is this your place?
— If we are there, then we deserve it. The championship is very tight: one mistake and you’re no longer first but third, not fifth but eighth.
— What is the task for the season?
— Nobody speaks directly about the European competitions. The main thing is to win every match and be as high as possible in the table. And if we manage to get into European competitions, that’s great. We strive for this.
