«It will be a special World Cup. It’s always special to represent the national team’s colors, to participate in major official tournaments, and the World Cup is something unique, especially after we’ve already won it.

But, as I said, I don’t want to be, so to speak, a burden for the team. I want to feel good physically, be confident that I can help and be of benefit to the team, to the group.

Our season is different from the European one — we’ll have preseason preparation, not many matches before the World Cup starts, so we need to see how it goes, day by day, whether I feel good enough physically to be in the shape I’d like to be in and be able to participate.

But of course, I understand that it’s the World Cup, that it’s something special, and that it’s the most important competition there can be. So I am full of anticipation but am taking it calmly, step by step,» Messi’s words were quoted by Sport.es.
