Today’s date gave the world several well-known individuals who closely tied their lives to football:

Harrison Omoko (1981) — Nigerian defender. He started his career in Ukraine by joining «Dynamo» in 2000. However, most of his matches were played for «Dynamo-2». In 2001, he was loaned to Israel’s «Hapoel» Be’er Sheva, but he didn’t play any matches. Later, he played for «Vorskla», «Tavriya», «Zorya», and «Volyn».

Anatoliy Shepel (1949) — one of the most interesting football players in the first half of the '70s in the USSR championship. He particularly shone while playing for Odesa’s «Chornomorets», scoring 38 goals in the USSR First League Championship in 1973. After moving to Kyiv’s «Dynamo», he didn’t show the same level of play. He worked as the director of the DYuFSH «Dynamo» Kyiv named after Valeriy Lobanovskyi football school.

Benny McCarthy (1977) — former South African footballer who played as a forward. His last club was the domestic club «Orlando Pirates». The top scorer in the history of the South African national team. Silver medalist and top scorer of the 1998 African Cup of Nations. UEFA Champions League winner 2003/04.
