The defender of Kyiv «Dynamo U-19» Kostiantyn Hubenko shared his impressions of yesterday’s youth championship match with «Veres U-19» from Rivne (2:2).
Denys Dykyi— I think we lacked a bit of successful actions in the final phase. In my opinion, we played the first half very well, had good moments, we just missed the last pass, shot, or something else. At the end, when we were winning 2—0, we sat back a bit in defense — and the result was not very good for us.
— When the score became 2—0, it seemed that the team was leading confidently, the guys converted two penalties and should have calmly brought the game to victory…
— I think we shouldn’t have fouled at the end. It’s football, things happen, what can you do — that’s how it happened.
— For young players who have just come from the Academy and are still learning, is this a good experience and lesson?
— Yes, I believe they need such experience. In football, anything can happen, it’s impossible not to make mistakes, it doesn’t work that way. It just happened that we lost the victory.
— What can you say about the opponent’s game? What do you think brought them the result?
— They just kicked the ball forward and held onto it. Of course, you can play against such tactics, but they got a bit lucky in the end.
— You already played with «Veres» in the first round, back then you managed to win 1—0, has the team changed much in terms of play and lineup since then?
— No, their style of play has not changed, they acted the same way.
— How do you feel about this match being moved from mid-December? Is it better to play now rather than in winter?
— I think it was a good initiative for «Veres» to come to us in Kyiv now so we could play this game during the national teams' break. We have a very tight schedule with many matches, so I think it was a good idea.
— You missed a few matches, now you played all 90 minutes again. What is this related to?
— Due to the limit on players born in 2006, that’s why it happened that I didn’t play. Today the coaches gave me the chance to come out and play the whole match, but the result was not very good, and there’s nothing you can do about it.
