One of the main heroes of today’s 2026 World Cup qualifying match is the goalkeeper of the Ukrainian national team, Anatoliy Trubin, who commented on the victory over Iceland on MEGOGO.
— Anatoliy, an incredible match in terms of emotions. What can you say?
— Very happy. We haven’t done everything yet, but our dream is alive! Today was one of our best games throughout my time on the national team. Every player gave not just 100%, but 1 million percent. Great atmosphere at the stadium, and the fans gave us energy! A big thank you to them!
— How did it happen that you were able to put on such a performance in terms of the fight? All skeptics watched and were delighted with the team.
— Over the last year and a half, there was a lot of criticism, which we deserved, but today we all see that we can play. We just need to keep working, believe in ourselves, and prepare for the playoffs in March. We last played in the World Cup in 2006, so we need to fulfill the dreams of the players, the coaches, and the whole nation!
— Your incredible save today...
— Everything comes at the right time. At the most crucial moment, we didn’t concede, and I’m very happy. And it’s not just about my saves — everyone fought and worked hard. Everyone did great.
— How did that save look from the goalkeeper’s perspective?
— I’ve been training since I was 6 to help the team. I do everything I can and cannot do to help the team not to concede. The guys then scored one, two — awesome. Superb!
