Andriy Lunin: «Has anyone heard from me or the head coach that I refuse to come to the national team?!»

Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin commented on Ihor Tsyhanyk’s information that he refuses to come to the Ukrainian national team.

Andriy Lunin

«Seeing that lately, not only false, but simply fabricated information is being spread about me refusing to represent the Ukrainian national team, I cannot remain silent, especially when they try to tarnish my name and question my love and dedication to the national team.

Before spreading any information, dear journalists, ensure its truthfulness. Has any of you heard from me that I am refusing to come to the national team, or from the head coach?! The answer is 'no', because it’s a priori impossible— even to think about not playing for the Ukrainian national team, let alone say such a thing.

The national team is the dream and goal of every footballer, and for me, it is an honor to represent the colors of our country. There were quite a few games when I didn’t play and was on the bench, and there were no issues. So why should there be any now, when we all understand well that this is the national team, and the main thing there is the team and the result?

Everyone wants to play, and that’s normal, but the decision is made by the coach, as he considers what is best for the team, and we, as players, have to be ready to help. The articles that were published are lies. The lack of professionalism of journalists who make such publications or statements is disrespectful to me as a professional and as a person. Using journalism and the information space for disinformation of fans and creating conflicts among us, I consider it wrong.

Peace to everyone, and Glory to Ukraine!» — Lunin wrote on his Instagram.
