Barcelona bosses asked Lewandowski to score fewer goals to avoid paying Bayern bonuses

Barcelona’s executives in the 2022/2023 season asked the team’s forward Robert Lewandowski to score fewer goals in order to avoid paying Munich’s Bayern a bonus for the transfer of the Polish striker, Sport.es reports, citing the book 'Lewandowski: The Real'.

In the book, the Polish footballer stated that team officials, including Blaugrana president Joan Laporta, asked the forward not to score too many goals because otherwise, the Catalan club would be obliged to pay Bayern €2.5 million. This conversation took place after Barcelona’s victory in La Liga. By the end of the season, the striker had scored 23 times in the national championship.
