Rayan Cherki, Player of the Match: "It makes things easier because I play with Bradley and Maxence at club level. We know how to play for each other, we have a certain understanding. But there are 11 of us on the pitch and we all got the job done tonight."
"It's an advantage for us to stay here," Ripoll says of Cluj. "We like it here, it's our second home right now. We have three days' recovery. Ukraine will have had four but we're going to play in a stadium we have already played in. Ukraine are a very very good side – we know that."
Sylvain Ripoll, France coach: "It wasn't perfect, no, but I'm happy with what we produced. Overall, I'm happy. We managed to get fluidity into our play, which we didn't do against Norway, and we were rewarded with a clear victory."
Patrick Rahmen, Switzerland coach: “We needed to be a bit more clinical tonight. We had some chances and matched France for 60 minutes, but of course we’re a little disappointed with the result. We saw France have great quality and we’ll need to be more efficient against Spain.”
France's Cherki is the Player of the Match! "He was brilliant in many ways," say the UEFA Technical Observer committee. "It was a pleasure to watch him playing football!"
Ian Holyman reporting from CFR Cluj Stadium:
Full-time verdict: A hugely impressive second-half performance from France, who just had too much quality for their opponents in the end.
Ukraine - Les Bleuets' quarter-final opponents in Cluj on Sunday - now know just how big their task will be if Ripoll's men repeat that display.
Switzerland is still through, though – they'll play Spain in the last eight on Saturday.
A game full of classy goals ends with France and Switzerland both progressing to the quarterfinals!
The Group D winners will remain in Cluj to face Group B runners-up Ukraine in Sunday's last-eight contest, while Switzerland, whose superior head-to-head record kept them ahead of Norway and Italy, meet Spain in Bucharest on Saturday.
Despite enduring a difficult spell during this second half, Switzerland have shown their ample qualities tonight and are on course to qualify for the quarterfinals as matters stand.
Ian Holyman reporting from CFR Cluj Stadium:
This is the first time in the tournament we've seen France play with this fluidity going forward. When you looked at the names on paper, you thought they'd be capable of producing a performance like this. Now we're seeing that talent in full flow.
