Former striker of the Ukrainian national team Oleksandr Palyanitsa in an interview "TEAM1 ” shared his expectations from the Ukrainian championship next season.
- In your opinion, will it be possible to hold a full-fledged championship in Ukraine?
- I also adhere to the point of view that the football season in Ukraine should start, but, you know, somehow restless in my heart... Because for Ukraine, football during martial law is something incredible, that's why it will be a real challenge, both for organizers and participants. It will be a challenge to the whole of Ukraine.
I hope that every trifle will be taken into account and only on safety guarantees will it be allowed to start the championship. Although, to be honest, everything can be expected from the Russian aggressor...
- Can the upcoming season become the most unpredictable since independence?
- No, I think that no one threatens the leading positions of Dynamo and Shakhtar. However, more specifics will appear in early August, when it becomes known on what basis the championship will be held, in which cities or countries calendar fights will be held, and how personnel issues are resolved.
- How much will the UPL level fall due to the current situation in the country?
- The level of the championship will decrease, but not critically. I drew attention to the fact that, despite the difficult situation of the participating teams, they find the opportunity to invite even foreign players. But I’m not sure that we will witness the discovery of new football talents. Too many young people have lost during a very long pause in the Premier League.
