Jozef Szabo: "The leaders of Dynamo were not visible. I'm ashamed that football is played like this"

Former Dynamo Kyiv coach Jozef Sabo shared his thoughts on the second leg of the Champions League playoff round between Benfica and Dynamo (3:0).

— As I said before the match, it happened. What will you do - we have a war, there are no leading players in the team. I watched the first matches of our championship and was very upset: is it really such a decline?! The foreigners left, and those who remained are in the second league... The Portuguese have a powerful team, constantly reinforced by cool Brazilians, and we have a war and no money.

"Dynamo" could not do anything with "Benfica" - they have a completely different skill level. Some of our football players were not seen at all on the football field. Unfortunately, we could not count on anything else. Let's see which teams will be in the Europa League and how Kyivans will play with them. The "boys" currently in Dynamo are not professionals. It's scary - our championship will be weak, so far there is no future. I was very saddened by what I saw.

In the first game, Tsygankov was roughed up, and in the second game, Sirota. How can such passes be given? I don't remember our football players making such passes at that time. These are constantly played backwards - it is already in the brains of everyone. This is not football.

— Dynamo's only dangerous moment is Sydorchuk's shot from the central line...

— He saw that the goalkeeper was standing on the line of the penalty area and punched. Could have scored. And there was nothing more from the people of Kyiv. Moreover, in the "Dynamo" half of the field, the Portuguese did what they wanted. There was no proper pressing from Kyiv. At times, one could think that they were playing in the minority. The leaders of "Dynamo" Shaparenka and Buyalsky were not visible. I am ashamed that football is played like this. Yes, we are at war, but on the football field you have to show what you can do. You can't play like that. By the way, I didn't even watch Shakhtar's game with Metalist 1925 either - it's not football, but some incomprehensible "phenomenon".

— Who can be singled out from the Dynamo team?

— The only Bushan who can always be celebrated. The opposing team is constantly attacking and he always has a lot to do, but how many saves can the goalkeeper make? He already pulled some very difficult balls in this match. The first goal for Giorgi was very unpleasant - Otamendi hit down and it is especially difficult for the goalkeeper. 3:0 is still good, because they could have missed more.

— What to expect from the Europa League?

- Everything is very disturbing. We do not knock on the gate, we do not create anything. We are playing the wrong kind of football. It is not clear how we can beat the opponent. For example, I have been saying for a long time: "Look for the attacker." What is Besedin doing on the football field?!

Looking at all this, we need to accept what we have and hope that our boys will play better in the Europa League.
