Ex-Shakhtar goalkeeper Yuriy Degterev died

Former goalkeeper Yuriy Degterev passed away. Yuriy turned 74 on October 5, and four days later he died, Donetsk media reported.

Yury Degterev

Degterev was a famous ex-keeper of Shakhtar in the 70s. He won silver and bronze medals of the USSR Championship, the 1980 Country Cup and two gold medals of the U-18 European Junior Championship. In total, the former football player has more than 370 matches for the Miners.

However, since 2014 — after the Russian invasion of Donetsk and Luhansk regions — he switched to the side of the occupiers and took part in football events on the territory of the so-called "DPR". He was also part of the football union of the unrecognized republic. Perhaps that is why the press service of the "miners" did not report this event in any way.
