Former football player of the Ukrainian national team Volodymyr Mikitin shared his impressions of working under the guidance of one of the former coaches of the national team, Jozsef Szabo, who, we recall, coached the Ukrainian national team from 1996 to 1999.
“Jozsef Szabo is probably the most emotional coach in my career. Theoretical classes in his performance were based on emotions. When we were sorting out the opponent, Jozsef Jozhefovich started up with a half turn. He started speaking calmly, but ended in raised tones.
He was simply blown away when he tried to convey his words to the players. But in this way he tried to show how important the upcoming game is. Even when we played some control games, Sabo did not change. I always tried to convey on emotions how to treat the upcoming match.
As for Sabo's training, he worked according to Lobanovsky's method. In the classes, we had constant series of high intensity, 8-10 minutes each. There are short breaks between series, then a new series, even more difficult. Markevich also had such classes, but we worked much more with balls, especially when we moved to the field, ”said Mikitin.
