Bittencourt was replaced by N. Schmidt. Then, in the 66th minute, Borussia Dortmund made the second and third substitutions, replacing M. Reus with S. Ozdan, and G. Reina with J. Byno-Gittens.
It was J. Byno-Gittens who made the decisive breakthrough in the 67th minute, scoring the first goal of the match and putting Borussia ahead. Then Werder Bremen responded with the second and third substitutions: K. Gross and M. Philipp replaced each other, and Jay Stage replaced I. Gruev. Dortmund made it 2-0 in the 85th minute thanks to a J. Brandt strike and shortly thereafter made their fourth and fifth substitutions. J. Ryerson replaced T. Meunier, and J. Brandt was replaced by M. Dahoud. The score remained the same until the end of the match: Borussia Dortmund won away with a score of 2:0. Even though the net didn't hit the net, fans at wohninvest WESERSTADION enjoyed a tense match as the teams went all out in the three-point battle.
