Dinamo midfielder Benito has shared his opinion about Oleksiy Mykhailychenko and Mircea Lucescu in an interview with the club TV.
- What are the differences between Mihailichenko and Lucescu's teams? Mihailychenko was a coach who hardly ever spoke. Yes, he knew what he was doing and tried to give every player a chance to prove himself. But for me Lucescu is one of the best coaches in the world. He is respected in any country we visit. They never leave him alone in our hotel, they constantly ask for photos or autographs.
When he joined the team, he gathered all the players to see each of us. Lucescu never consulted anyone about a particular player, started everything from scratch, gave everyone a chance. Lucescu will not just tell you: "Play this way and that way. He will explain why playing this way is the most important thing in this or that situation. He has taught us to understand the game. Roughly speaking, I know what to do even before I receive the ball. This process he has brought to automatism.
When Lucescu arrived, the youth started to show themselves very well at once - Ilya Zabarny, Oleksandr Sirota, Vladislav Vanat started to show themselves very well. Mister said that football is not about age. Therefore, experienced players work very harmoniously with the youth. Everyone complements each other. I have great respect for him for that. You know, usually the coach comes and puts the result in the first place. But for Lucescu, the team is important. It's important to make the players feel comfortable both on and off the field," said Benito.
