Former Dynamo Kyiv and Shakhtar Donetsk striker Zhunior Moraes spoke out on the anniversary of Russia's attack on Ukraine.
"One year of terror, death and destruction in the country where I have lived for the last 10 years, where I have seen and experienced many good things. Where I witnessed the development of the country, the emergence of new buildings and schools, which carried the dream of every citizen of Ukraine, every child.
When we heard about the threat of war, we could not have imagined that it would bring what we have been seeing for a year now. It is unbearable to see all this and not be able to put an end to so much suffering.
Innocent people keep suffering all kinds of violence over and over again. Adults and children in their homes are targeted by rockets, explosions, seeing their families destroyed. And my biggest misunderstanding: what is it all about? Politics, power, land?
What in this world could be more important than innocent life?
The Ukrainian people are strong and loving. And they continue to fight back heroically. I constantly hear about how food is distributed for free to those in need. About how people share generators with each other. About how housing is provided for those who have lost everything.
I ask God every day to bless the life and heart of every citizen of Ukraine. And if you feel the same in your heart, you need to help Ukrainians relentlessly. Because cold, hunger and fear don't wait," Moraes wrote on his Instagram page.
