The head coach of the Armenian national team Aleksandr Petrakov told that he tried to bring Henrikh Mkhitaryan back to the team before the Euro 2024 qualification match against Turkey.
- I have been trying to personally contact Henrikh Mkhitaryan since the very first day of my arrival in Armenia. At first, I could not, then I asked his teammates Pyatov and Stepanenko about him. I was told by various sources that Henrikh was reluctant and would stick to his decision.
I asked my assistant Roman Berezovskiy to contact him and understand his position, but Mkhitaryan also told Berezovskiy that he had already made up his mind. I was ready to go to Milan and talk to Henrikh, but he refused. Mkhitaryan's decision should be respected. He's an exceptional footballer," Petrakov was quoted as saying by Radar.
