Pavlo Orikhovskyi, a pupil of Dynamo Kyiv and currently a midfielder of Kovalivsk Kolos, spoke about the current state of affairs in his team, and also explained why he never became a player of the main team of the White and Blues.
"The current championship is unpredictable: everything is like a roller coaster"
— Pavel, you scored two goals in the goal of "Metalist 1925" and helped to achieve one of the brightest victories of "Colossus" in the current season. The game even exceeded your expectations, didn't it?
— Of course, happy to score, happy to help "Colossus" with my goals. We had a theory about this game, it was clear that the whole team was playing for victory and giving all their strength for it. Therefore, it is the merit of the whole team in the first place.
— How would you generally assess the current season, how well it is going for the team and for you in particular?
— It's hard to say now. Let's sum up at the end of the season, when all the teams will take their places in the standings. Now, you see, games like this are like roller coasters. Our championship is very unpredictable now, in most cases any team can beat anyone, so it is difficult to even predict where we will finish the championship.
We strive to rise as high as possible, in every match we work on it. Yes, the implementation fails somewhere, not everything works out on the field. But if we take our chances better, we will definitely be higher in the standings. And in general, I would like to thank the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the fact that this championship is taking place at all.
— Of the matches you played this season, which one was the most difficult for you?
— I cannot single out one, because there is no such thing as a match that is easy or difficult. Now the championship is interesting because there is no opponent that is easy to play against. Any defense must be opened, and it is difficult.
— You played for six months for "Rukh", but eventually returned to "Colossus". Why? What didn't work?
- It's a long story. In short: I was injured almost the whole time there, my emotional state was also at the worst level. Because of these factors, I decided to leave the club. I was very happy to return to Colossus. And in general, there are many reasons why I left the "Movement", but I would not like to dwell on them.
— I heard that one of them is heavy physical exertion during Kuchuk's training. Like, because of this, you could not fully recover from the damage, and you also risked getting a new one.
— No, what are you? This, one might say, is delusional. When I was in "Dynamo" about the Spaniards, or even to mention Ruslan Volodymyrovych Kostyshyn, they really had greater physical loads. Therefore, this theory is delusional.
"Dynamo Spaniards are the best of the best coaches"
— You mentioned the Spanish specialists at Dynamo, whose work allowed a whole generation of football players to open up. What do you remember in particular from working with Unai Melgosa, Vicente Gómez or even Raul Riancho?
- These are the best of the best coaches. The knowledge they gave me is knowledge for a lifetime. God willing, in the future they will also help in coaching work. These people have given such an impetus to the development of so many players that it is impossible to even describe.
— Not so long ago, I spoke with Max Afanasyev, who worked with Juande Ramos. He said that the Spanish are a very interesting people. For example, after eating, they don't leave the table right away, but they can spend another hour talking somewhere else. Which of these curiosities for Spanish specialists have you noticed?
— Yes, I remember when Vicente and Raul lived on the base, they went to the store and always bought some sweets or other goodies, and then sat in the restaurant and had a snack or drank tea in the evening. In principle, I can only say the best things about them, both from the point of view of human qualities and coaching. These are simply incredible people with great, great football potential.
— At one time, you were very close to the main team of Dynamo. What ultimately went wrong? Why didn't you manage to establish yourself in the team?
— How everything happened: Serhiy Stanislavovich Rebrov was in the team, so he practiced so that one of the young guys was always near the first team, at least he could train with it. I trained almost constantly with the first team. Somewhere he did not get to the application for the match, but in the training process he was constantly in the players' cage.
Then, when Rebrov's coaching staff finished working with Dynamo, Oleksandr Khatskevich came. We had current contracts and we expected to go to the first team meeting as was the norm. But we were told to look for rental options: that was the end of it.
I, Bohdan Mykhailychenko, Sashko Tymchyk, Maksym Kazakov, Oleksiy Shchebetun, Pavlo Lukyachnuk were on that list. In short, many boys. We were told to just look for a club, even without fees. That was the end of the story with Dynamo.
— It's sad, of course...
— Yes, but this is life. Some go, others come. I believe that there is nothing wrong with this. The coach made a choice for the benefit of other football players. Of course, maybe we could have been given a chance, maybe someone would have proved at the meeting that his place is in Dynamo, but we were not given such an opportunity.
"I can play cards with guys, but not Counter Strike"
- Igor Surkis is quite an open person. Have you had personal experience?
— I personally did not communicate with him. With various assistants, yes, but with himself, no.
— Is it true that you could have continued your career in Sweden?
— There were various options, but if we are talking about Sweden in particular, it is more likely that not.
— And in general, could you find yourself in a foreign championship?
— I'm almost there. But it so happened that I signed a contract with "Movement". This is also a long story, but let's not talk about it.
— Many players in Ukrainian football play Counter Strike in their free time. How do you feel about this type of recreation?
— No, I don't play computer games at all. I prefer living things more: for example, I can play cards. But the boys really play. Who is in FIFA, who is in something else. I don't think it's a problem, everyone does what they want in their free time so it doesn't hurt.
