Honored coach of Ukraine Myron Markevich shared with Team 1 impressions of the course of events in the All-Ukrainian arena and told who he considers to be the main contender for winning gold medals.
Myron Markevich— As far as I'm concerned, a miracle won't happen. Everything goes to the fact that the awards of the highest quality will go to the "miners". And not because they are superior to their counterparts in class, they are just more stable and it is important that they do not lose points in matches with their neighbors in the standings, the value of which immediately increases.
— You are alluding to a recent leader — "Dnipro-1", which in the second part of the season already managed to lose to "Dynamo" and "Zora"?
— To be honest, I was unpleasantly impressed by how slowly the people of Dnipro played with the people of Lugansk. They forgot that victory is not won by jogging! Although Oleksandr Kucher's wards had good chances to compete with Shakhtar, which does not give the impression of being invincible even in the all-Ukrainian arena. And in the European Cups, Shakhtar's team is faster than the Conference League participants.
— How can you explain that Dnipro-1 managed to lose its advantage over Shakhtar?
- It is possible that the Dnipro people overestimated their strength, and there was no reserve of strength. After all, among the people of Dnipro, apart from Artem Dovbyk, no one can be singled out... Therefore, only the maximum attitude in every match, the desire to jump above the head could help...
In general, I somehow caught myself thinking that the vast majority of domestic teams are the same in terms of style, no creativity, homemade preparations... Take at least the match of the last round between "Rukh" and "Dynamo". It would seem that after two victories in a row, the Kyivans will make a lot of effort to outclass one of the outsiders and intensify the fight for a place on the podium. But "Rukh" looked more attractive in Lviv, and I can't even imagine what Kyiv will do with such a game in the European Cups if they manage to get there.
— I recall that before the start of the season, most experts noted that due to the departure of the legionnaires, there was an opportunity for our young football players to prove themselves...
— Unfortunately, the championship is already coming to the finish line, and there is no opening in the middle of the shift, which can't help but be annoying. Where then to look for potential candidates for the national team of Ukraine? In particular, the lack of an equal replacement for Shakhtar veteran Taras Stepanenko in the support zone is most worrying... There is also a catastrophic lack of strikers.
— You said that "Shakhtar" is close to winning another championship title, but who can't hold on in the elite division?
— It is unlikely that Lviv will be lucky enough to avoid relegation. It is difficult to name the rest of the losers, because seven teams are in the danger zone at once. Of course, this intrigue increases interest in the championship, although, I repeat, the level of preparation of the participants is low. On the other hand, Ukraine is under martial law, and under such conditions it is good that the championship is being held at all.
