In an exciting La Liga match, RCD Mallorca and Athletic Club drew 1-1 at the Visit Mallorca Estadi. The first half was a tense affair, with neither team able to break the deadlock despite several sharp chances resulting in several yellow cards. The home side received three yellow cards in the first half, A. Raiolo, V. Murica and P. Maffeo. The visitors were not far behind: Yu Bercice also picked up a yellow card just before half time. At the beginning of the second half, with the scoreline still level, Athletic made a substitution: G. Guruzzeta was replaced by N. Williams. Just when it looked like Mallorca would hold on to win, I. Williams was awarded a penalty in the final minutes of the match. The Athletic striker made no mistake, scoring the equaliser in the 90th minute of the match. The final whistle soon sounded and both sides took one point each. Although Mallorca would be disappointed not to be able to hold on for the win, they would get the satisfaction of playing against a strong Athletic team. As a result of the draw, Athletic have moved up to 7th place in the La Liga table, while Mallorca remain in 18th place.
