UPL executive director Yevhen Dykyy commented on the information that the Ukrainian championship might expand to 20 teams next season.
"The UPL regulations do not envisage an option to expand to 20 teams. An expansion to 18 teams is envisaged subject to the return of Desna and Mariupol to the competition. No other options are stipulated.
That is why this information looks strange. The expansion to 20 teams was not even discussed at least within the UPL.
The situation with Desna and Mariupol? According to the information I have at the moment, those clubs have not applied for attestation for the next season. And they will not be accepted without this procedure," Dykyy said.
