UPL executive director Yevhen Dykyi commented on the information that the Ukrainian championship could expand to 20 teams next season.
"At the moment, we have not received any official request to expand the UPL - neither from FC Lviv (it was reported that this very club initiated the expansion of the Ukrainian championship to 20 teams - editor's note), nor from other clubs. We have regulations that do not imply an increase in the number of teams.
First of all, we need to be guided by the competition regulations adopted on the eve of season 2022/23, and they in no way foresee an increase of the number of teams in the UPL to 20.
If each club wants to increase the number of teams in the competition, it may come to absurdity, so we must be guided by the regulations", - Ukrainian Football quoted Dykyy as saying.
