Former Ukrainian national football team player Yevhen Levchenko spoke about his conversation with famous Dutch coach Guus Hiddink about the Russian war against Ukraine. We shall remind you that at one time this specialist was in charge of the Russian national football team.

"I attended the Coach of the Year award in the Netherlands. I met with Guus Hiddink. The first thing he said to me was: "Zhenya, it's terrible what is happening, I really empathise with you".

We had a long talk and I really believe that Guus cares. In his speech, Gus mentioned two players: Smolov and Denisov. Because they were not afraid to speak out against the war. Otherwise we agreed that many things in Russia have changed for the worse.

I very much hope that somehow more Russian athletes will reflect and understand that we have civilians being killed and that this is war and genocide of Ukrainians. Glory to Ukraine!", Levchenko wrote on his Facebook page.
