This week there are matches of the 2nd round of the Ukrainian championship season-2023/24. In one of them on Friday, 4 August, Kyiv Obolon and Dynamo met at the Obolon Arena stadium in Kyiv.

"Obolon", despite the status of the Premier League debutant, started this match with utmost courage, and in its starting segment Dynamo failed to seize a clear advantage. Yes, the Bilo-Syni controlled the ball more often, but in general the game looked almost equal. Moreover, already on the 10th minute of the match the ball was in Buschan's goal, which was the result of Chernenko's shot from outside the penalty area and the subsequent ricochet, but the goal was not counted because of offside.
However, seven minutes later Dynamo opened the scoring. As a result of a spectacular combination of Sidorchuk - Yarmolenko - Buyalskyi - Vanat, the latter found himself with the ball in the right side of the Obolon penalty area and hit the near top corner with a confident shot. The linesman recorded offside, but after the use of VAR system the goal was counted - 0:1.
The conceded goal did not let Obolon down, and in the 24th minute of the match the Brewers were close to success again. It was Chernenko who dared to take a shot from 28 metres, and Buschan had a great difficulty in throwing the game to the corner. Almost immediately after that Sukhanov shot at the Dynamo goal - again Buschan had to enter the game. Finally, on the 29th minute the same Sukhanov struck again, and this time the ball flew half a metre from the bar.
And in the end the ball ended up in the other goal. On 29 minutes Moroz fouled Buyalsky in Obolon's penalty area and the referee did not hesitate to award a penalty, which was confidently converted by Yarmolenko - 0:2.
"Obolon did not lose heart even after that, they constantly tried to attack, made shots on Dynamo's goal, but again almost missed themselves. On the 37th minute of the match Buyalsky played in the Brewers' penalty area to Yarmolenko, the latter cold-bloodedly "took away" the opponent, no less cold-bloodedly shot past the goalkeeper, and the ball was already flying into the goal, but it was literally knocked out from the line by Chernenko. And in the 40th minute, the bar played for Obolon: Yarmolenko shot powerfully from 25 metres, and the ball hit the right post from Fedorivskyi.
The end of the first half was extremely productive. Obolon were successful first. In the 42nd minute of the game another attack of the home team ended with a fierce shot by Chernenko from a free kick, the referee recorded offside, but after the use of VAR system the goal was counted - 1:2. It seemed that the teams would go to the break with this scoreline, but Dynamo had the last word in the first half of the game - it was Buyalskyi who closed a flank shot by Dubinchak in the Brewers' penalty area in the fifth minute - 1:3.
And in the opening of the second half Obolon again reduced the deficit to a minimum: Chernenko served from a free kick awarded on the right flank, and on the far post Karas, calmly passing between Tymchyk and Dyachuk, shot with his head from three metres at the Dynamo goal - 2:3. However, only four minutes later Dynamo were as close as possible to another goal: Sidorchuk struck from 25 metres, the ball hit the bar, bounced to Yarmolenko, who also shot on goal, but in this case Obolon was saved by the post - phenomenal bad luck!
On 60 minutes, the Brewers scored another goal (Chernenko put Taranukha one-on-one with Buschan and the latter managed to send the ball into the net), but it was not counted due to offside. "Obolon continued to look for their chances in attack, but in the 73rd minute of the match the task for the hosts became much more difficult: Hrusha was sent off for a second yellow card and the Brewers were left in the minority.
And a few minutes later Dynamo realised their numerical advantage: Lukyanchuk broke the rules in the Obolon penalty area in a fight with Vanat, the referee awarded a penalty for the second time in this game, and Yarmolenko again confidently converted it - 2:4. And this goal turned out to be the last one in the match. "Obolon looked for their chances in attack even with ten men, Buschan came into the game more than once, but in general Dynamo confidently brought the match to a victorious conclusion. Moreover, shortly before the final whistle the Bilo-Syni were very close to scoring another goal - it was Buyalskyi with a spectacular heel pass who led Voloshyn one-on-one, the latter shot on goal from 12 metres, but Fedorivskyi still managed to reach the ball.
In the next, 3rd round of the Ukrainian championship Dynamo will have a home match with Kharkiv Metalist 1925, which will be held on Sunday, 13 August, in Odessa at the stadium "Chernomorets" (kick-off - at 19:00). But before that, Kyiv team will have the first match of the 3rd qualifying round of the Conference League with Greek "Aris" on Thursday, 7 August.
