After the match of the 2nd round of the UPL between Obolon and Dynamo, which ended with a score of 4:2 in favour of the visitors, passions did not subside for a long time. In particular, the Obolon FC management had complaints about the objectivity of the match referee, Yuriy Ivanov.
Myroslav Stupar, a well-known referee in the past, gave his assessment of the work of the refereeing team in yesterday's confrontation in the capital:
- "It was a real derby, when none of the opponents wanted to give up. There were enough game episodes when it was difficult for the referee and his assistants to make the right decision. I didn't see any bias in Yuriy Ivanov's actions, and if the Brewers had any questions, they would have been directed at the assistants. Just think of the episode at the end of the first half when Viktor Nyzhnyk called Ruslan Chernenko offside, who scored a goal. It was good that the VAR system worked, which made adjustments and the goal was scored.
As for Ivanov, he was only in a hurry to punish Dynamo's Konstantin Vivcharenko with a yellow card in the 88th minute for a simulation. There was a contact tackle in that episode, which is not prohibited by the rules.
"The Obolon FC management should have claims against their team for the unrealised goal chances and against Vitaliy Hrusha, who managed to earn two warnings within four minutes and left the Brewers in the minority," said Stupar.
