Oleg Luzhny: "A wise man is paid a big salary, but he shows nothing"

Legendary Dynamo Kyiv defender Oleh Luzhnyi has criticised Mykhailo Mudryk's interview, in which the midfielder complained about criticism from experts and journalists in England.

"Mudryk knew perfectly well where he was going to play and had to be ready, both psychologically and physically. If he saw the deal and the amount of money he was going to be paid, his eyes didn't bug out, did they? There is no such thing there, if you come to play for a team, you have to be ready to bring value to it. Of course, the press will put pressure, because his transfer cost a lot of money, he is paid a big salary, and he shows nothing. It is clear that he will be criticised.

I look at things realistically. He was bought for that kind of money, so he has to live up to that level. If Mudryk feels that he is not up to that level, then he simply should not have gone and played in that league. He could have gone to a conventional Brescia or Genoa and played there. If he proved himself there, then he could go to England.

Despite everything, I think he's a good footballer and has great data: speed, technique, I really like him as a player. I don't know what he breathes inside, what his situation is there. That's another matter. But in general, he should have joined Arsenal back then, this team was more suited to his style. Even if Chelsea had offered better financial terms, it would have been easier for him to open up at Arsenal. Over time, the deal would have been renegotiated and he would have been offered the same as Chelsea, or even better. It doesn't even matter who convinced him to move to Chelsea. If I am a player, I make my own decisions, not club managers or agents. It is my choice and my responsibility," said Oleg Luzhny.
